To make GPA matches easier to run, we updated the PAR calculator to simplify its use and ensure greater consistency across clubs.
“DRAW” – the ONLY time you don’t use this is if you have them start at a low ready. This is used for drawing, picking the gun up off a barrel, table or out of a box.
RELOAD – we require a reload at every stage. You can override the reload requirement, but it must state that in the stage description and is typically used on low round count stages such as a Bill Drill or maybe a 10-round stage you just want people to go fast.
SHOTS – this is how many shots are required for the stage by design, 12 targets and 2 rounds each = 24 shots
TARGETS – this is for the total quantity of targets to be engaged, including steel targets. This is used to account for transitions between targets.
PC (Position Change) – this is to account for having to move to various shoot positions to be able to engage targets. Our calculator uses a time based on distance traveled to a shooting position, so on your stage design “we” need to know from SP to PoC1 is 8′ or 2′ or whatever. It doesn’t have to be precise, just walking it off or knowing a wall is 8′ and saying from the middle of the wall to the PoC is 4′ is fine.
STYLE – this is to account for certain shots that may take a bit more time to make, such as Strong Hand Only. This is used PER shot for the actions listed.
CF (Complexity Factor) – this is something that will slow down a top-level competitor, not the average Joe. Much of what we have listed is simply a check box for something your stage may have in it.
There is an undefined CF for something unaccounted for but is limited to 1 or 2 seconds. There is rarely anything that calls for 2 seconds and this should be used rarely.
